About Arundelair Chorus

Arundelair Chorus is a membership organization of women who sing and meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize and have fun.  We currently have 18 women of varying ages, all walks of life, and from all parts of the Annapolis/Arnold/Bowie/Eastern Shore/Severna Park areas ;-).

Performance

The main purpose of Arundelair Chorus is to get out and sing for our community.  We sing at community events throughout the year and at an annual regional competition. We are available to sing at your next function or event. If you're looking for a unique musical experience to liven up your event, please contact us.

 
Education

In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a capella singing.  Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals and a very important component of the chorus experience.  We often receive coaching from a visiting "master" in the art of barbershop where we learn new techniques to improve our individual and chorus singing.  And Maggie is a certified director.  Which means she's been certified by our International organization to be knowin' what she's doin'.

CompetitionIn the spring of each year, the Arundelair Chorus participates in the Region 19 chorus competition in Ocean City, MD.  Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to sing for each other and receive evaluations and constructive feedback from a panel of certified judges. This year, at the Region #19 Convention, the Arundelair Chorus was recognized as the Most Improved Chorus in the region (we credit Maggie who returned to direct us in 2010)!  The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories travel to the International Competition which is held in the Fall in a city selected each year.  In 2012, International Competition will be held in Denver, CO.

Quartets

Most choruses have a number of members who form their own vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus.  Arundelair Chorus currently has one and we are very proud of them!  Check them out on the Quartets tab, above.

Affiliation

Arundelair Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an organization of almost 30,000 members in choruses and quartets worldwide, with headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
